Another "Quiet" Day (Joke)

I got a text at 7 this morning, Georgina saying “we may be down today” there goes another plan for a quiet Sunday, whatever one of them is.

So we decided to have our main meal at lunchtime, and I made a food shopping list, and some bread, decanted some Elderflower wine and did all the other things that I was going to do over the next four days in about 3 hours. “We will call back at lunchtime and let you know our plan” she said, and basically it is we will be down either later today or tomorrow.

In the meantime and disproving the theory that time is natures way of making sure that everything doesn’t happen at once, Naomi is back in hospital. She has had more time in hospital than she should have at her age, and 10 or so operations since her car accident, now she has been in twice in 48 hours with supraventricular tachycardia, which is a great cause of concern. It’s thrown our day out as a second episode was totally unexpected, apparently a single event is usually isolated, and may never recur. Of course we just want to get up to her (240 miles), even though she will hopefully be sorted and back home soon. Sometimes living here is not such a good thing.

In an effort to keep going, here are the results of my mornings baking.

Ready for the Oven

I modified the Baker Brothers Sourdough recipe, after reading here,

that I was not the only one having issues with it in the original form.

Anyway the results are so much better, a good rise and a good crumb, with an excellent sour taste, thanks Phil.

Much Better Crumb

I also did my herb Focaccia and some cheese and peppers rolls.

Not a lot else to tell at the moment, obviously my thoughts are on other things.
