From Left, Custard, Sponge Batter, Golden Syrup. |
Here's the makings of a quick sponge pudding and custard.
I used 2 tablespoons custard powder and 2 tablespoons sugar, mixed to a paste with a splash of milk. Make the paste up to one pint and stir well.
Put some Golden Syrup in a bowl (or Jam or Marmalade)
Melt 1 oz butter in a jug in the microwave. Remove from the microwave, replacing with the custard.
Heat the custard in the microwave on max for 7 minutes. (750W)
Whilst that is doing mix 2oz SR Flour with the butter, then 1oz sugar and 1egg. Beat to a smooth batter, spoon over the syrup to cover. Seal with cling film.
Check the custard, it should be going thick by now, give it a stir, if it is thick and warm take it out and put the sponge/syrup bowl in. Microwave for 3 minutes, then rest for 2 minutes. Use this time to finish off the custard.
ENJOY
